Powering the Future: Canada–UK Collaboration for a Resilient Nuclear Ecosystem
As global momentum builds for nuclear energy, Canada and the United Kingdom are advancing concrete solutions across borders and sectors. Canada-UK Nuclear Day 2025 brings together leaders from industry, government, and academia on both sides of the Atlantic to accelerate collaboration, strengthen supply chains, and build a skilled workforce equipped for the next generation of nuclear technology — from fission to fusion. The event offers a practical forum for advancing shared ambitions through partnerships, policy alignment, and innovation.
Event Outline
The Canada-UK Chamber of Commerce is organizing a Canada–UK Nuclear Day this fall, scheduled to coincide with the World Nuclear Symposium in London.
The event will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 3rd at Canada House. The programme will begin with a light lunch/coffee/tea and registration at 12:00pm, followed by opening remarks from the High Commissioner of Canada and the UK Minister of Energy (invited). The agenda includes three panel discussions — including a Provincial Energy Ministers Panel — as well as presentations highlighting advancements in fusion and opportunities for collaboration between Canada and the UK. The day will conclude with a networking reception at 4:30pm.
We expect around 100 attendees, including representatives from Canadian and UK nuclear businesses, government officials, the Canadian Nuclear Association, the UK Nuclear Industry Association, and academic institutions active in the nuclear sector.
In addition, the British High Commission in Ottawa is planning to bring a business delegation of Canadian companies to London for the World Nuclear Symposium. They will take part in site visits and will also attend Canada–UK Nuclear Day.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for this event, please contact info@canada-uk.org if you are interested.
All guests must bring Photo ID and register for this event, if your name does not appear on the official guestlist or you do not have Photo ID you risk not being allowed access to the venue.

Opening remarks from The Hon Ralph Goodale, High Commissioner for Canada in the UK.
Provincial Energy Ministers Panel
Securing and expanding nuclear supply chains — from fuel to advanced technologies — is critical to building long-term energy resilience. This panel will explore how Canada and the UK can strengthen the nuclear ecosystem and help meet the world’s needs for energy security through practical collaboration on supply chain development, investment frameworks, and enabling conditions for cross-border projects. Geopolitical uncertainty and national energy security concerns are forcing countries to re-evaluate their energy futures. Canada and the UK are poised to collaborate and lead a trusted group of partners that can collectively deliver a reliable and secure nuclear fuel supply and reactor technologies that can alleviate some of those concerns. Participants will consider opportunities such as financing mechanisms, shared standards, MOUs, and other tools that reduce risk, enhance agility, and support long-term sector growth. The panel will also highlight the importance of Indigenous engagement in project development and supply chain partnerships, drawing on Canadian experience.

The Role of Fusion in the Future of Clean Power
As demand for nuclear energy grows, so too does the need for a skilled and mobile workforce. This panel will focus on how international collaboration can help address nuclear skills shortages through joint training initiatives, knowledge transfer mechanisms, and workforce mobility strategies. Participants will examine best practices from both Canada and the UK, including partnerships between academia and industry, recognition of credentials, and new models for workforce development that ensure the sector is equipped for both near- and long-term growth.
